Rip Lemmy, LSD and Stacia's boobs were a good plan for going out to Hawkwind's gig in the seventies.

@iamholgerczukay Hawkwind's discography is a fucking absolute mess. Getting into them is as much of a nightmare as getting into The Fall or Sun City Girls because for every one studio LP there are about ten quasi-official, horribly recorded live albums about which little information can be found and whose packaging does nothing to indicate is a low fidelity live recording. It's considerably easier in 2015 thanks to the Internet (both for information and online shopping) than it was 20-25 years ago, and it's worth the effort, but I wouldn't blame anyone for being discouraged.

v Agree with you. I've barely listened to anything after Quark.

Before criticizing, I gotta say: Hawkwind is one of the most important bands in my life. I thought psychedelic music was bullshit before discovering Hawkwind. They bridged the gap between hard rock and trippy music, I'm eternally indebted. That said, I can't believe how many awful releases they have. Some of the lowest of the lo fi live recordings, an insane amount of rehashed/recycled comps and archives. They have so much filler out there that I think it prevents people from travelling beyond the "known" albums. Quality over quantity is the moral of the story.

Surprised that Hall of the Mountain Grill doesn't have the most listens, and that ISOS, Doremi and s/t have more than Warrior. Hall and Warrior are the two best, hands down.

"Hard to believe that this was Lemmi's first group " : Hawkwind wasn't Lemmy's first group.

"Steppenwolf" takes everything stupid and serious from the book and makes it stupid and fun. I wish Hawkwind had adapted more shitty books into great tunes.

скучные и бесформенные импровизации по накуру, слушать совершенно не обязательно. но есть одна гениальная песня у них - silver machine

'Warrior On The Edge Of Time' is a musical masterpiece. I'm listening to this album since ages now and it'll stay wonderful for me, forever. It's timeless and beautiful. One of the best albums I've ever heard. I love it. Hands down.

Why should Dave Brock live long? He slowly eliminated everything interesting and good about Hawkwind and turned them from the greatest of all the space rock clan into a croney pool of second-rate hippie-retreads turning out dogshit like "Electric Teepee". Nothing after "Space Bandits" is worth listening to, which isn't surprising considering that's the time when Hawkwind finally completed the torturous metamorphosis into Brockwind. Go see Nik Turner's Space Ritual, it might not be the "real" Hawkwind but I guarantee it's better than Dave Brock & The Dave Brock Five.
