Hattie wrote gritty songs about love, sex, cocaine and voodoo. Her voice is said to be one of the best, employeeing a high vibrato and a range of emotions. When the great depression brought Beale Street’s heyday to an end Hattie and other musicians traveled to Chicago. After a brief recording career there she appears to have dropped out of the music business altogether.
