Met Jimmy Hastings not too long ago, what a gent and quite happy to chat about all his musical exploits.

Each tune has some mystery and reticence, and the musical atmosphere makes the listener to dream.

The Canterbury scene produced some amazing voices that just ooze melancholy. Robert Wyatt, Richard Sinclair and Kevin Ayers spring to mind. Is Canterbury such a sad place?

I had my suspicions it was Jimmy Hastings. I occasionally go to jazz gigs and I've seen him in that context a couple of times, and he is great. I wonder how he'd feel about being approached by an old hippie wanting to chat about his prog days

In fact, half of Henry Cow is on this LP too! Tim Hodgkinson on clarinet and Lindsay Cooper on oboe and bassoon.

Bob: Jimmy Hastings played flute, soprano & tenor saxophones on this LP. It's a corker!

I love those Hatfields ripply chord sequences and melodies. Sometimes Richard's singing can be beautifully melancholy, and the flute on this is wonderful - anyone know who it is?

When's the funeral? I'd like to hear it in an ecclesiastical setting.
