Harley Poe is an acoustic horror folk rock band with punk influences. They are similar in style to Violent Femmes. Their lyrics however, are extremely dark, with many references to horror movie subculture.

    The new record is a fitting end to Harley Poe. From what Joe says on his blog, this may be the last we hear from this group for a while. Damn shame, but the legacy of records Whiteford left won't be forgotten. I certainly intend to remember the lyrics to "Transvestites Can Be Cannibals Too" for as long as I can.

    Found these guys completely at random from a google music suggestion. Very much reminds me of an unabashedly offensive Mischief Brew. Pretty phenomenal stuff, both with the playing and the delightfully witty storytelling lyrics.

    Me like - want more - I hadn't thought about it but now that someone mentioned it there is some comparison to Violent Femmes (Blister in the Sun) style - but definitely his own sound. Sad he didn't play anywhere near me for Halloween - Need to see him live.
