Hans Zimmer (born September 12, 1957) is an Academy Award, Grammy, and Golden Globe award-winning film score composer from Germany

James Newton Howard (born June 9, 1951 in Los Angeles) is an Academy Award nominated film score composer.

Zimmer and Howard collaborated on the score for the 2005 superhero film Batman Begins and its 2008 sequel The Dark Knight.

    What I love is how the duo smuggles little pieces of turf-music into the score. Sounds that resemble the flapping of bat wings, the swooshing of a cape, ticking clocks, the revving of the Batpod or tight punches being pulled. Makes Gotham City come alive in your mind, with all its gargoyles, dark alleys and steaming manholes. Brilliant composers, these.

    I really wish James had taken part in The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack. I really loved his themes for Rachel and Harvey.

    Hey guys! 'Nightwing: Escalation' is a fan-made Batman web series, influenced by Nolan's and Zimmer's style but with a crime drama vision totally its own. Right now we're filming and raising funds for episode four; the obvious indie budget provides its own limitations, but what's done with the characters -- Gordon, Barbara, Grayson, etc. -- is fantastic. It's heavier on the dialogue and drama than the action sequences, and the episodes only get better with each subsequent production.
