Half-Hearted Victory Song (more commonly known in social circles as Jim Adair) is an aspiring singer/songwriter/band member who does it all for the love of the music. “As a musician you have to realize the music you make will be bigger than you will ever be, it’s all about the songs” he says. Jim is not shy about his inspirations. “Elliott Smith is probably the biggest for me. He really made me want to write songs that mean something, and I dont think I’ve gotten there yet. As a songwriter, I don’t think anyone will ever touch him. …he was truly a gift.” However, Jim is also influenced by such acts as dance-rock band Bloc Party, Foo Fighters, Weezer, and even the “metalcore” band Cave In.

“Deep Solitudes and Awful Cells”, the first demo, was relased by Jim Adair (still using that as his artist name) on June 14th 2005. After the release and quick distribution of roughly 20 demos, Jim retreated to a “vacation” in Wildwood, NJ. “That time was rough for me, being mainly alone with no release, no one to really talk to”. While having no one, no inspiration around caused Jim to write less songs than he aspired to, the ones that were written tell of a loneliness and a longing for interaction. “I lie awake, I lie alone, I sleep my days away, and I dream of home” begins “Greetings from Wildwood”, the first song Jim wrote about his summer from a straightforward point of view.
