French producer/DJ based in Haarlem, Netherlands.
Herve Sika is H-SIK, an electronic music producer from Ivory coast known for his dark and textured take on music. He infuses obscured samples and abstracted effects with influences from old-school hip-hop, dub and hybrid grime and footwork. His obsessive exploration of minimal rhythms, effects and samples allows his music to be unfold into a thrashed out, deeply layered sound.
Born in Abidjan, Herve was immersed in traditional African music, especially influenced by his family’s music, TP Audio Rama. Some of these early influences are rooted in his present productions, with tempo and minimalism being a solid foundation. Together with his passion for exploring historic rhythmmachines and samplers help shape his distinct identity.
Once living in France, hip-hop became a big influence to him. As were jazz and drum and bass. At the same time his interest in electronic music production and experimentation with new software opened up endless possibilities for him.
