… … … … … … … … on earth does music get as wild as it does in the Balkans. That’s why DJ Natto (a.k.a. Galactic sax man Ben Ellman) tapped into that unruly East-West tradition to create Gypsyphonic Disko, a raucous, multi-culti dance party for the ages. Mashing up the horn blasts and relentless rhythms of Eastern Europe with the laid back beats of hip-hop and funk (along with some live sax squonking), Natto takes the Old World into a future where there are no borders. A founding member of the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars, Natto, a long time fan of the pan-Romani music canon, shares the frenzied sounds of Bulgarian wedding music, Hungarian dances and Turkish brass scorchers with masses of New World party people.
