the 2 etudes books r one of the profoundest works in classical music of all times compare with js bachs well-temperated & beethovens 32 sonatas... it all found a klimax in that pianoconcerto from the eighties. he s my most loved composer anyway - what a geezer!!! (and aimard is the best interpreter of his piano work (my opinion))

Maybe I'm ignorant, but what is so great about this piece? It sounds like many others to me.

Yeah, more and more I find myself realizing that Ligeti is a master of the piano. This piece is one of those proofs.

This is so haunting and thoughtful, like an improvisation. We owe a lot to Ligeti for his wonderful piano repertoire.
