Gvasdnahr is an ambient project formed in 2009 by Tiwaz (real name Tom Sundvik), a Swedish speaking Finnish musician.
The project started when Tiwaz composed and recorded the song Through the Astral Void in the fall of 2009. He recorded several more songs during the next couple of months and then released the home recorded and self-titled album Gvasdnahr on the internet in spring 2010, followed by Skymning EP which was released in January 2011 and then the short song Helferð in April 2011.
November 10 saw the release of the album Through Mists and Ruins. A different approach was taken for this album, as it is completely composed upon a computer, with no manual recordings done with a keyboard as on the other albums. The reason for this change is simply that the synthesizer that had been used for the earlier albums has started to break down, and are no longer usable.
Everything but the vocals and the programmed percussions are composed and recorded manually with an old Roland D-5 keyboard synthesizer. Everything on the album Through Mists and Ruins was composed on a computer.
