On the 1 of August Gert Jan was born. He grew up with music.
His father was a natural talent; he played the piano and other instruments without being able to read a single note.
Gert Jan discovered it wasn’t easy for everyone to play the piano and he decided to take up piano lessons. After having a strict piano teacher for 4 years he had had enough and so he bought a Synthesizer, the Casio VL tone. In those days his brother used to play disco and later italo in the attic. His brother also had a mixing panel which Gert Jan would secretly play on and this way he became mesmerised with electronic music.

When he was 15 he started DJ-ing although it felt more like simply putting on records he did try to stick the beats together. With a friend and a drive in show (FUSE) they played at sports canteens, schools and end of year parties. At a certain point he discovered the meaning of mixing through the records of Stock, Atkin & Waterman. They were easy to mix as they had the same sound.
When he was 19 he went travelling for work. He was on the road a lot and barely had the time to update the dance list and there was no time at all for playing records. After his travels he picked up where he left of in 1997. He bought cd players, mixing sets and headphones and started as DJ Clubdoctor. He worked big names such as Robin Alberts (Jaydee), 2 o’Clock Ron, Miss Monica, Colin Forbes, Darkraver, Stanton, DJ Paul etc.
In 2005 he made a turnaround to a different sound; Grooves, funky electro, progressive club and later on latin. Names as Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez & Roog have got a big influence on Gus With this came a different name; DJ Gus Tinto.
