Artists:

1. Ladyhawke
Discovered the self-titled debut at the end of 2008, and her songs have figured in my listening pretty much constantly. Shimmering 80s pop goodness but still maintining credibility. ;-)

2. Anoraak
The Valerie collective (Google them) was my big discovery of 2009 and shaped much of the latter half of the year's listening. Anoraak is the pick of the bunch IMHO: dreamy electro-pop, like Air if they listened to Jan Hammer instead of Burt Bacharach.

3. Empire of the Sun
Actually got their album at the tail end of 2008 on import. Although it was a bit patchy, the first half of the album or so is definitely amongst the best material of the year.

4. College
David Grellier's minimalist electronica speaks more to me about real romance than a hundred vapid ballads will ever do.

5. Def Leppard
They accrued many plays due to trying to learn many of their songs on bass earlier in the year. Special edition of Pyromania didn't hurt either.

6. Toto
I was learning Africa on bass back in the spring/summer and discovered their greatest hits collection through Spotify.

7. Futurecop!
Fantasy electro, like Daft Punk covering Limahl's Never Ending Story theme. A last.fm discovery by way of Ladyhawke and EOTS. Thanks last.fm!

8. Late of the Pier
A bit of a sleeper from 2008. Fantasy Black Channel was one of the best albums of the previous year.

9. Kasabian
I still prefer the debut, but their latest album weighed in with its fair share of killer tunes. Choice picks were Underdog and Fire (the festival song of the summer for me)

10. Guns N' Roses
Chinese Democracy was a great album and it accrued many plays, as well as sparking my interest in their back catalogue and making me realise what a bloody great band they were. Use Your Illusion has some classic stuff, rather than just being a teenage curio.

= 2010
The first decade of the 2000s is over now and we're facing the new 2010. I don't really know what I shall expect from this year. Will it kick-ass, or will it be just a normal year?
One argument for a good 2010 is the announced release of Slash's first solo-album. Well, usually it's his 3rd one, but the two longplayers It's Five O'Clock Somewhere and Ain't Life Grand were published under the name of Slash's Snakepit, a band founded by Slash. He was the only one who played on both albums, the rest changed, but officially these were no solo-albums.
Apart from this, I really hope to see another new Album of AC/DC, Guns N' Roses or some other great Rock Band. And yeah, I still call them Guns N' Roses although Axl Rose is the only one left from the original Line Up.
My first album in 2010 was ordered just 3 hours after New Year's Eve. It's the Guns N' Roses Live Era '87-'93, a live album I didn't have yet (and yeah, it wonders me too that I didn't have that one before :D).
Maybe I'll visit some good concerts in 2010. I hope John Fogerty (old Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman) will come to Bonn again. It was just too awesome in 2008 and '09 he didn't come :( . We gotta see.

Song of the day is It's So Easy by Guns N' Roses. It was the first song of 2010 for me :D .
