Most of their gigs were at Newport TJ’s and these included support slots with My Bloody Valentine, Poison Idea, Pegboy and Therapy? The original line-up of the band was Richard Thomas (vocals/guitar), Keith Berrow (bass) and Paul Welsby (drums). They also performed featuring Kerry on trumpet and Jason on euphonium.
In 1992 they recorded their debut album ‘Guinea Worm’ for S&M Recordings which was a label started by promoters of gigs at TJ’s. They split up shortly after this recording but the line-up of the band at this time was Keith Berrow (bass), Richard Thomas (vocals), Neal Griffiths (guitar) and Andrew George (drums). It was eventually released in 1995 as one side of a vinyl LP with live recordings from TJ’s on the other side which included Jon Spencer, Green Day, Girls Against Boys and Huggy Bear.
Following the breakup of Guinea Worm, Richard Thomas has released numerous recordings whilst the other three got back together briefly in 1997 as Shaved Ape and then again in 1999 to form the band Chang.
