Groundburst are an instrumental rock band consisting of Phil Dunne (guitars), Si Dunne (keys, bass) and Cathal O’Leary (drums). Their sound defies easy classification but draws on influences from minimalism, jazz, soundtrack and electronic music, while remaining true to a traditional rock aesthetic. Since forming in late 2005, they have put on many of their own gigs and played dozens of support slots on the Dublin live scene.

In early 2009, Groundburst went into self-imposed hibernation in order to prepare material for and record their forthcoming self-financed EP, “Everything I didn’t say and all the things I wanted to”. In an attempt to turn current popular bias against instrumental music on its head, this collection of compositions uses the medium of wordless song to express frustration in communication; an idea that most people can relate to on some level.
