Groove came to be when members of Chorus and Glee Club realized they wanted to sing Mozart with a full orchestra one weekend and de-stress by singing the Beatles or Bowie the next…

…and so Groove was born.

As the only group affiliated with the Smith College Music department, we draw all of our members from either the Chorus or Glee club, and schedule all rehearsals and performances around Music Department rehearsal times and events. This also means that we get the benefit of performing at Music Dept. events, such as the Commencement Concert in May.

Founded in the fall of 2001, Groove is Smith College’s youngest a cappella group. We make up for this by making our presence known, whether it be by performing for the Boston Smith Alum Club or by coaxing ‘07 Commencement Speaker Gloria Steinem from the President’s house with songs a-plenty!
