i went through at least 2 years thinking this was "I'm cheerleading myself, I shouldn't even matter" because, why not? The song IS called Cheerleader. That lyric still makes sense (as a line, maybe not in the context of the song) -- to cheerlead yourself is to hype yourself up, give yourself a pep talk.. reassure yourself.... ex. "Okay! I'm gonna take on the world today! The world is my oyster!" the second half, "I shouldn't even matter" then sounds like typical self-doubt, self-loathing. While I do like my version better lmao this is just a fantastic song all around.

I find myself spontaneously humming or tapping out that rhythm at least once a day. [5]

Cool little tune. Freak folk in its purest form.

This reminds me of Jefferson Airplane or similar...in a good way.
