GrantonStar take their name from the football team in ‘The Granton Star Cause’ which forms part of Irvine Welsh’s ‘Acid House’. Influenced by the loops and riffs of Sleep, Spacemen 3, Mudhoney, Monster Magnet, Rapeman and Loop themselves.
Formed in the summer of 1997 from the debris of Leicester’s Scum Pups, ‘Lovebutton’,’ The Heals’, ‘Turtlehead’ and ‘Loaded’ with a common belief that fuzz will rule once more. These influences were crucial, mix them up, roll it, smoke it, (do whatever you want with it) and you might come somewhere close to picturing the Grantonstar sound.
