Biography
Graham Gouldman (born Graham Keith Gouldman, 10 May 1946, Broughton, Salford, Lancashire, England) is an English songwriter and musician who is a long-time member of British band 10cc and teamed up in the 80s with Andrew Gold to form Wax.
By 1968 at the time of his debut album Gouldman had already written hit singles for Herman’s Hermits (
No Milk Today and
Listen People), The Yardbirds (
For Your Love), The Hollies (
Bus Stop) and Wayne Fontana (
Pamela, Pamela, The Impossible Years) and delivered his own versions of some of those songs as well as other new compositions on that album.
From 1972 after The Mindbenders and Hotlegs he joined Eric Stewart with Kevin Godley and Lol Creme to reform as 10cc which, on and off, would last 23 years until the last break-up in 1995. Gouldman and Friends toured the UK in 2009, simply billed as 10cc and in 2010 Kevin joined Graham and do more touring again as 10cc.
His second solo release in 1980 was actually the score to the animation feature Animalympics. This has gone out of print and has not been released to CD yet so has become a rare collectable. Just before that in 1979 he had a hit with a single Sunburn for the movie with the same title.
With Wax he scored several hits including
Ball And Chain,
American English,
Right Between The Eyes and the biggest one
Bridge to Your Heart. To this day he still works with Andrew on several projects.
Graham latest album “Love & Work” was released 2012 and dedicated to his former Wax partner, Andrew Gold who sadly passed away in 2011.
