• Weekly Top Tracks (Oct. 2 - Oct. 9, 2005)

    12 Oct 2005, 10:37 by BRMExtrEmE

I'll do this occasionally to see how my taste changes over the months. Not every week, because that will probably be roughly the same list. But once every month or something like that.
    Let's see:

    10. Blackball
This is my favorite song of all time. It probably makes my list EVERY week. It's just that good.

    9. Right Where It Belongs
Beautiful song. Got it by randomming through my playlist. And then got hooked on it. ;)

    8. The Artist In The Ambulance
This song kept getting in my attention. Everybody was talking about it! So I downloaded it and I must say... Very good.

    7. Brat
Got a Jaded touch to it. Short, sweet and hilarious lyrics.

    6. DARE
This tune keeps getting stuck in my head. The second album is better than the first anyway.

    5. Rio Bravo
This should be the themesong to every damn horrormovie in the world. It's that evil.

    4. Salty Dog
    One word: YAARRRRRR!

    3. Super-Sprode
Addictive! This uber-blippy song is awesome. Heard it in Amplitude and got hooked on it ever since.

So, now I know why Harry Truman is the most played Mindless Self Indulgence song. I just played it 4 times in a row. I'm getting to like it. It's about to beat DARE.
  • The UK Charts

    8 Sep 2005, 19:12 by Dhenry

Well, as I am a person who keeps himself quite well informed with the british charts (the link you can see them at is by the way), I have a few thoughts to share.

    Gorillaz DARE-d Oasis to fall?
No, they didn't. The UK press really worked hard last wee on trying to make the DARE vs. The Importance of Being Idle look like the fight from August 10 years ago; Country House vs. Roll With It. Well, the truth is, it wasn't. Oasis fell 4 spots from ther last weeks #1 down to #5 (well deserved, I don't like the song) while Gorillaz got the top spot - their first #1 ever. Just so you'd know, Feel Good Inc. was #2 and Clint Eastwood was #3. Anyway, many congradulations to The Gorillaz, well done on the #1. Also, if you happened to listen to the chart show, the phone call with Murdoc Niccals of Gorillaz was just amusing, wasn't it? And thanks to the lovely this phone call got public.

  • Get on It

    8 Sep 2005, 16:02 by devcub

I've, sadly, neglected Kasabian for a while now, but I'm giving it a go tonight, see where it takes me. I'm still loving electro-rock after all.

I'm on it, get on it
    The troops are on fire!
Ya know I need it, much closer
I'm trading just a little more
    Step on it, electronic
    The troops are on fire!

Other things I'm listening to today:
Motion City Soundtrack - I have an emo obsession that just won't go away, no matter how hard I try to stamp it out! Just kidding, I've never tried to get rid of my emo love.
    Soulwax - mmmmmm, Belgian waffles
DARE is such a great track, even my housemate Dave likes it, and he's a philistine when it comes to good music. As an example, his favourite artists are Grace Jones, Janet Jackson and Skin from Skunk Anansie.
    (he is very gay, ssssssssshhh)

Firstly, if you haven't bought your copy of the new single DARE yet and have the chance to, go and do it now! I didn't believe it had a chance for the #1 spot on the UK Chart but it seems to have a good chance to get there. So go out and support it!

Secondly, fall is hear, hear the yell. Back to school, ring the bell. Yes, We're Going to Be Friends has proven to be a perfect song for the beginning of this school-year. The question is, are we going to be friends or is there more to it?

Thirdly, I've re-discovered AC/DC lately, probably thanks to the only 2 albums I didn't have before:
    Let There Be Rock

The new Rammstein single probably released some time in the next 2 months, Benzin shows power, energy and style of Sehnsucht rather than fitting in as something from the Reise, Reise recordings. Sounds good!

And if anyone has a working link where I can see the video to the song Do You Want To, contact me!
  • It's DARE!

    28 Aug 2005, 17:59 by Dhenry

Yes, indeed. The new single, DARE is released in the UK tomorrow. CD1, CD2, DVD. Too bad I won't be able to order anything right away, I spent every last dime I had on my guitar amp.
Really great b-sides on the single, you know.

CD1 has the live studio recording of Clint Eastwood which features De La Soul and Bootie Brown of The Pharcyde doing the rap verses (My favourite Clint Eastwood, for that matter).

CD2 features the b-side Highway (Under Construction) which has already leaked. A very lovely tune. Also you can find the Soulwax remix of DARE as track 3 on the CD2.

The DVD however is the best thing, not only does it feature the video & the animatic of DARE but it has 2 exclusive tracks, Samba at 13 & People(a demo version of DARE). So if you are from the UK, go check your local record-shop tomorrow.

On a related matter, De La Soul will perform in Club Tallinn next Saturday. I'm not very keen on going there but I'd like to see if they do a version of Feel Good Inc.
