This HAS to be the best big band on the planet -- and you have NOTHING of theirs for listeners!! How can this be? Some of the best tracks from Goodwin's recorded repertoire aren't even listed above: Senor Mouse, with Chick Corea sitting in; Too Close For Comfort; with Dianne Reeves; Comes Love, with Brian McKnight and Take 6; Take 6 without McKnight, doing justice to It's All Right With Me; Patti Austin, Lee Ritenour and the band whooping it up on September; and the amazing, seamless amalgam of the late Art Tatum's solo work with the band's arrangement of Yesterdays that should have won Goodwin's group a Grammy nomination for best instrumental arrangement. You have to hear this band cook and have heard a lot of other modern big band to appreciate just how great these guys are. And you have NO tracks available? That needs to be remedied at once: Gordon Goodwin and the Big Phat Band are a treat for the ears that all jazz lovers deserve. So get with it, dudes! 'Nuff said.
