Golden Teardrops is the husband/wife duo of Lorelie Landavora-Marquez (formerly of Spring Boutique/Under Shooting Stars) and Ryan Marquez (Apple Orchard/Sodajerk). Their name was taken from a Francis MacDonald-penned BMX Bandits song. Influenced by Sixties Pop/Psych and particularly the works of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys, the duo began in 2005 as a long distance project that resulted in a couple of songs, “A Summer Escape” and a cover of Television Personalities’, “I Remember Bridgette Riley”. Other recorded tracks include cover versions of The Beatles’ “If I Needed Someone” and The Lucksmiths’ “Honey Honey Honey”, and another original called, “Boy, Am I Worth The Trouble?”, all appeared in separate online compilations. The Lo-Fi approach of the recordings garnered comparisons to some Indiepop bands of the 90s but really these are just cheap attempts to sound like outtakes from “The Beach Boys Love You” Album. Stay tuned for more.
