The only other album I can think of that, at the time, was just as evil sounding is Bathory's "Under The Sign Of The Black Mark". Otherwise I'd say this was the most evil sounding record ever in 1989. It still is one of the most evil, if still not the number one. One thing's for sure - there's no other record like it.
30 Mar 6:30pm
one of the best albums in metal imo

29 Jun 2014, 11:19pm
The only worthwhile metal.
9 Mar 2014, 7:28pm
Absolute masterpiece of its own kind.
27 Jul 2013, 11:23pm
The only worthwhile industrial metal.
12 Nov 2012, 4:44pm
I watched the film the other day and I saw it in the earlier comments, too. I was right, then. Of course, googling a little also confirmed what I thought. Good idea for a cover, should I say
4 Nov 2012, 9:47pm
Doesn't the cover pic come from the film Altered States?
3 Oct 2012, 10:34am
Killing Joke, Swans, Throbbing Gristle and Big Black are main influences here. Also their best album.
6 Aug 2012, 5:57am
The early Swans industrial influence is great, but there's plenty of Big Black influenced stuff going on here. I'm liking this a lot.

5 Jun 2012, 5:28pm
A disgusting and repetative album. All in a very, very positive sense.
30 May 2012, 11:26am
Monolith indeed! A towering, brutal assault on the senses. Especially the title track!
11 Feb 2012, 6:53pm
So fucking gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!
18 Dec 2011, 11:39pm
Perfect title and cover art for a sick masterpiece.

21 Sep 2011, 2:28am
everything good about industrial metal
12 Sep 2011, 11:24pm
I'm not big on industrial, but to me I'm a bit confused as to why the majority of "tags" don't classify it as industrial metal?
16 Jun 2011, 3:33pm
12 May 2011, 3:35pm
obviously you don't understand their music.
25 Apr 2011, 11:30pm
Horrible music, made by classic naive wannabe nihilists.
7 Feb 2011, 4:47pm
oh yeah. the Swans influence is heavy as hell, but it's still really independent
17 Jan 2011, 3:02pm
i'm just gonna say SWANS.
26 Dec 2010, 2:53pm
so very uncompromisngly bleak
19 Dec 2010, 10:17am
The best industrial metal you can get; cold and bleak, the way it's supposed to be.
13 Nov 2010, 1:04pm
still THE industrial metal album after all the years. yes, it even beats Ministry's albums "Psalm 69" and "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste".
19 Jul 2010, 4:44pm
Godvlees schopt kont....

Justin K Broadrick talks in-depth about the making of Streetcleaner in Rock-A-Rolla issue 26! Check it out: www.rock-a-rolla.com

If the neighboors can't hear it then you aren't playing it right. This recording is designed to give you that pleasant buzzing sound in your ears for years after listening. Might want to invest in some better speakers after obtaining this masterpiece.
3 Jan 2010, 1:32am
amen to that
22 Dec 2009, 1:20am
soundtrack to a metal band on acid recording in an abandoned industrial factory
13 Nov 2009, 11:11pm
Justin Broadrick is a Genius!!
6 Nov 2009, 3:18pm
godflesh greatest name ever.
6 Oct 2009, 10:57pm
Ministry meets early Swans? No.
17 Sep 2009, 9:26pm
Ministry meets early Swans meets grotesque shoegaze guitar racket. In short, this album is better than pizza
24 Aug 2009, 10:33am
It took me a couple of listens to get it, but when I did by christ I was converted.
21 Jul 2009, 10:44am
Try early Swans. Btw. Chrome invented industrial rock :)
25 Jun 2009, 10:16pm
To give Killing Joke all the credit is as stupid as saying Godflesh invented industrial metal. It was a group of bands such as Einstürzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, and Cabaret Voltaire. Fucking n00bz.
18 Jun 2009, 12:56am
Flat out best album to listen to when pissed off.
19 May 2009, 11:42pm
You breed - like rats! Oh fuck, I love this album.
17 May 2009, 12:08am
6 May 2009, 12:35pm
No, Killing Joke started the whole industrial rock/metal thing. NIN and Godflesh each take it in very different directions - comparing them is a waste of time.
2 May 2009, 2:56pm
Not really. NIN isn't even industrial metal.
25 Apr 2009, 6:50pm
It's because Godflesh invented industrial metal and Reznor fucked it in the ass.
12 Apr 2009, 3:54pm
Oh, amazing album too.
12 Apr 2009, 3:52pm
How Trent Reznor is even remotely related to this album is beyond me. No one cares about how much you hate NIN.
22 Mar 2009, 6:12am
Makes anything by Trent Reznor sound Weak and Pathetic in comparison.
