To break new ground in music to extend borders. That is the motto behind the name GLOBAL TOURISTS. As a tourist travels to unknown countries to be enriched by new impressions and ways of life, this band has the most diverse influences engaging with and cross-fertilizing one another.
The five musicians from Cologne formed the band with its unconventional lineup in autumn 2003. With three guitars, assisted by double bass, drums and percussion adding loops, samples and electronic sounds- this group creates a unique sound.

A core stylistic element is the use of the Greek lute, the bouzouki, by guitarist Epaminondas Ladas. The ethnic Greek, who grew up with bouzouki and traditional Greek Rembetiko music, is a determining factor in GLOBAL TOURISTS musical line. Besides elements of pop, funk, jazz, dance, world music, electronic and even country the repertoire of the band also contains traditional Greek songs.
The open style of the music, improvisation on stage and danceable rhythms makes the GLOBAL TOURISTS an amazing live act.
