Biography

Before the Rhymes

Eugene “Gino” Lispi was born in Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1986 in Kingston. He grew up Dallas, PA listening to all kinds of music due in part to his parents extensive vinyl collection, and his father’s serious piano skills. Young Gino always liked music. He really was the “pots and pans on the kitchen floor” kid, which was only cute for so long according to his mother. In truth, he’s lucky enough to have had parents who thought music, and music education, was important. Naturally, they weren’t panning on stopping him. The first instrument Gino picked up was the trumpet in middle school. He played for about three years until putting it down in exchange for aggressive inline skates, and a strong misinterpretation of the then popular hip-hop/rock group, Limp Bizkit. After some time, and in no reference to Limp Bizkit, the young dude wanted to make some noise of his own. Soon came a 7-piece drum set which he played for years on his own, eventually upgrading his kit and playing in a few different projects around the time he graduated high school. Around the same time Gino began to dabble in guitar, ultimately driving him towards to piano.

“Cash Rules Everything Around Me…”

During the early parts of high school, while playing drums in bands and what not, Gino navigated away from his parents vinyl collection, and into his older sister’s CD collection. He was introduced to what became one of his most beloved albums.
