I love this album. Tons of great songs. Day Job, Not Only Numb, Follow You Down, As Long As It Matters, Perfectly Still, Competition Smile, Virginia.....all awesome songs. Even the songs that aren't GBs best are still very good. I really think this band has suffered for far too long with people who act like Doug Hopkins was the only good songwriter. I swear that man was put on a pedestal simply because he committed suicide. Why he gets the hero worship is beyond me. He was a good songwriter but give the rest of the band their due.

Gin Blossoms is great. I dunno if you will hear boatloads of people saying that but this is one of the most talented bands on the 90s.

An underwhelming, inconsistent follow-up to their classic New Miserable Experience, which is too overproduced and contains too much filler (My Car, Highwire and Memphis Time in particular). Still, there are some strong, memorable songs here, especially the hard-rocking Day Job, the tear-jerker ballad As Long As It Matters and the emotive acoustic Competition Smile. A mixed result.
