Matthew Gilbert Linley (aka ‘Gilbert’) is a London-born composer and musician. A debut album completed in 2007 - ‘Gilbert’ - received excellent reviews and extensive national radio play, gaining a release soon after on the John Peel-favoured Indie label, Shifty Disco Records. 2010 saw the completion of a new album, ‘Wahoola!’.

Gilbert’s music is often stylistically and eccentric, crossing genres such as , , , and . The music is generally richly-layered, combining vintage analog synths and organs with orchestral instruments such as harp, celeste and strings. Vocals by Maud Waret have also featured more prominently in recent work.

The music has been performed live throughout the UK by 5 people playing an array of instruments and has included notable sets at the 2007 Green Man Festival, 2008 Loop Festival, and 2009 Southbank Udderbelly. Gilbert also supported Mice Parade in October 2010.

Gilbert Linley also plays drums in Engineers with Ulrich Schnauss.
