Potsdam NY, United States (1981 – 2003)

Gigolo Aunts are an / band formed in 1981 in Potsdam, New York as Sniper.

In 1986 their name changed to Gigolo Aunts (after a Syd Barrett song) and the band re-located to Boston, Massachusetts.

After recording the singles “Bloom” and “Cope” with Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade the band signed to Fire Records in the U.K. and created the full-length album “Flippin’ Out” with producers Mike Deneen and Adam Lasus. They were then signed to RCA records in the US. Their biggest commercial success was the single “Where I Find My Heaven”, which featured in the soundtrack to the motion picture Dumb and Dumber and as the opening music to the British sitcom Game On. They Also had a song “Little Wild One” in the movie “That Thing You Do”.

Although not officially broken up, the band has been inactive since their 2003 full-length Pacific Ocean Blues. Vocalist/guitarist Dave Gibbs has since joined another band, Low Stars

Aqui el menda tiene el flippin out en vinilo e 12inches de aquellos 90... siempre acompañado del frostin on the beater de los posies. se acabaron los tiempos del fetichismo onanista de las portadas. qué pena.

Apparently. Who knew the Aunts were so big in Spain? But seriously - if you're reading this and you haven't listened to Flippin' Out yet, go download it immediately. It's a great power pop album.

UGH! Another band that indie decided belongs to it! This is not indie!! It's good!! Gigolo Aunts FTW! Similar to the band Reef in their awesomeness! Although I suppose they're indie aswell, pfft! I know I shouldn't care but people are throwing that stupid description around too much!
