Plenizio is an Italian composer. He studied piano and composition with Enrico De Angelis Valentini, conducting with Franco Ferrara and Zoltan Pesko. Essential for its formation were the frequent visits by Luigi Dallapiccola, Bruno Maderna, Hermann Scherchen and Dorfles, his professor of aesthetics at the University of Trieste.

After beginning his career as director of opera, he has dedicated himself to music for film, collaborating in two capacities as a composer and conductor, with leading filmmakers including Pietro Germi , Billy Wilder, Renato Castellani, Franco Rosi, Elio Petri, Mario Monicelli, Luigi Comencini, Dino Risi, Ettore Scola, Ermanno Olmi and Federico Fellini - for which he composed the music for the film “And the Ship Sails On.”

Meanwhile he continued his concert career, both as pianist and conductor. He was artistic director of contemporary music festival “Summer Concerts in Rome.” For almost thirty years in charge of contempt of romance Italian chamber repertoire, and has collected an archive of about 20,000 vocal. In 1985 he was awarded the prize SIAE - International Year of the music. In 2004 the ‘National Award entertainers’.
