Biography

Spain (2009 – present)

Georgina is a Venezuelan-born Latin pop/rock singer from Spain who made her solo album debut in 2009 with Ensayo y Error. Born Georgina León in Valera, Venezuela, she began her recording career in the rock en español duo Tisuby & Georgina with fellow singer/songwriter and guitarist Tisuby González. An appearance by the duo on the Venezuelan television program Cuanto Vale el Show resulted in a recording opportunity with Líderes Entertainment Group, and Tisuby & Georgina in turn made their full-length debut with the little-heard album Sueños Simples (2001). Their second album, Ruleta del Amor (2003), recorded in Spain with producers Luca Rustici and Miguel Blasco, was a much greater success. It spawned the international hit single “Por Qué No” and earned the girls acclaim as well as a legion of fans. Tisuby & Georgina never released a third album, however, as their partnership dissolved and Georgina moved from Venezuela to Spain. Based in Madrid, she embarked on a solo career in association with Warner Music Spain. Georgina made her solo recording debut in April 2009 with the five-song Casi EP. With the exception of a cover version of Nirvana’s “Lithium,” the Casi songs would later be included on her full-length album debut, Ensayo y Error. Produced by Pablo Cebrián and Ismael Guijarro, the album spawned the lead single “Con Solo una Mirada” and was a minor hit on the Spanish albums chart. The Latin pop/rock style of Ensayo y Error was likened to that of Julieta Venegas and Amaral, and Georgina supported the album with a concert tour of Spain.
