• How mainstream... more accurately: how mainstream rock am I?

    18 May 2006, 21:45 by drandomusic

Not that you can really trust last.fm with stats for anything since they take forever to update, among various other problems. I mean, one week it said I listened to Sara Evans, like, 20 times that week and I've certainly listened to her since then but I still have yet to see it add any numbers to Sara Evans in the overall list but strangely artists I listened to several weeks after this seemed to update almost immediately. But let's see what we get anyway...

    1. List your top 10 artists and amount of listeners to each.

George Strait 9,959 (Dubya Tee Eff? Thats it? I had to reload the screen 6 times to even get that number since the first four times had 0 and then an extra time because I didn't believe the number I got... so yeah, last.fm, they're pretty reliable.)
    Beulah 33,253
Rufus Wainwright 70,753 (had to reload 3 times before it gave me a number. And the number seems gigantic comparatively speaking...)
    Beck 217,549 (Holy crap...)
    The Cardigans 97,238

  • How Mainstream Am I?

    20 Apr 2006, 20:41 by cavemanbob

Find the number of listeners for each of your top 10 artists and add them up and divide by 10 to get the average.

    1. The Beatles - 267,601

    2. Thelonius Monk - 22,737

    3. George Strait - 9,242

    4. Sting - 65,504

    5. Richard Shindell - 974

    6. Pink Floyd - 201,642

    7. Steeleye Span - 4,011

    8. The Police - 98,549

    9. Marian McPartland - 191

    10. Queen - 184,309

So, my mainstream rating is 85,476

Dividing that by the highest possible rating, 324,128 (based on the overall last.fm artists chart) and converting it to a percentage, I get: 27%

I would like to see this "mainstream rating" number divided by total members on last.fm .. but I cannot find that number .. oh well

EDIT: The highest possible rating (avg total listeners for the last.fm top ten artist) is 233,232 .. which makes my real rating against the top ten: 36.65%

  • mood music: country???

    14 Aug 2005, 07:09 by way_cooler

Things for me have been uber-shitty.

And so, I listen to country music.

You heard me right, bitches. Country

So... George Strait is my main man in this instance.
What else have you got for me?
