First album “Labyrinths” is definitely part of the banjo canon (John Fahey, Pickens&Estribou, etc.). Released on Vanguard. Here Stavis plays Earl Scruggs, John Coltrane, Ravi Shankar and John Fahey, but his own unique musical voice is what dominates the recording. Also features Tim Ackerman on drums.This album, first released in the 1960s, takes take the banjo into thithero unexplored territory.
