Sir George Henry Martin (3 January 1926-) is an record producer, arranger, composer and musician. He is sometimes referred to as “the Fifth Beatle”—a title that he owes to his work as producer of all but one of The Beatles’ original records, as well as playing piano on some of their tracks.

In he established the Associated Independent Recording (AIR) Studios. Although officially retired, he is still the chairman of the AIR board.

In recognition of his services to the music industry, he was made a Knight Bachelor in and in he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

    For anyone who is interested EMI release on 23 April 2012 'Completely Cilla: 1963-1973' - a 5CD boxset of material by the British singer Cilla Black who began her career alongside The Beatles in Liverpool / signed also to manager Brian Epstein. The set contains 139 recordings - everything she recorded which was produced by George Martin. It also comes with a bonus Region 0 / NTSC DVD of many previously unreleased BBC TV music performances including a recently found 1971 rendition of the Lennon/McCartney classic "Norwegian Wood" (Cilla is backed by Marvin, Welch & Farrar).
