Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron 1951 attempt to bring the hustle bustle of turn of the century Paris into a showstopper. The 17-minute dance sequence at the end took a month to film. It cost half a million dollars.

The straight piano version loses a bit of it's sweeping granduer, but retains every bit of it's american "Jazz". This will appeal to purists. The rest of us will have to search for that Orchestral version...That quintessential AMERICAN experience.

The original score came before the film folks...! Agree with comments, with Gershwin being in my top four C20th composers.
