About this album

Operating from Amsterdam, Geomatic now joined the Tympanik Audio layer. After a devastating debut release (cf. “Blue Beam”) on M-Tronic which took me by surprise, I was really curious to hear this new opus. I dare to say that “64 Light Years Away” will without a shadow of a doubt go down in history as one of the best albums in its genre of 2010! “64 Light Years Away” is an album of 11 tracks that will get you in their grip from start until end. All elements that were used on the 1st album sound like having been improved and refined. The Middle-Eastern influence remains one of the most noticeable elements, but has been seriously empowered. We here get a kind of electronic Muslimgauze. The typical Middle-Eastern atmospheres create a mystical element, which brings the listener in fascination. Geomatic also stands for impressive electronic structures and treatments. This project is not only focalizing on great atmospheres (which has been done before), but also on strong electronic layers characterized by unique sounds. A dubby influence joins in on a few tracks. “White Hole, Dark Soul” and “The Fourth Plane” are both excelling in this genre. The spirit of “Blue Beam” appears clearly and heavily on “Shesqi”, which sounds a bit like the bridge joining both albums together. One of the absolute pearls from this great piece of music is “Abobe Horizon”. Geomatic here seems to move from dub influence to trance fields. The progression running through the song is simply amazing.
