Geoffrey Armes is a skilled improvisational musician, utlising piano and other keyboards, electronics, percussion and guitar. With a background in Electronic music via studies at Goldsmith College (University of London) UK born Armes has accompanied or composed for diverse organisations on three continents. Highlights include Laban Centre, London Contemporary Dance, Rambert Academy (UK), Dans Akademie, Hal 4, (Netherlands), Danceworks Berlin, Koeln Somer Akademie (Germany) , Hirayabashi Dance Theatre (Japan), and Neighborhood Playhouse, Merce Cunningham, Alvin Ailey, The Juilliard School, Jose Limon, Martha Graham (including the co-design and implementation of a Contemporary Dance program for the New York State Port Washington School district), Barnard College, and NYU Tisch (USA). Armes has consistently led ensembles for live performances of his own music, toured as a solo singer/songwriter, and has also performed or programmed for artists and producers as varied as Dave Stewart, Frankie Knuckles, Reebop Kwaku Baah, Rab Spall, Tom Desisto, Bernie Worrell and Fred Schneider. He has CDs of specialist music for both Contemporary Dance and Yoga on release, three discs of original songwriting, as well as music downloads available via his website. Along with Choreographer Christine Dakin and Cameraman Rob Dodson he is in the final editing stages of the music video and dance-film ‘Noor’, slated for release Spring 2008.
