Horizons (1:38)

Cover of Academy of Music (disc 2)

From Academy of Music (disc 2) and 10 other releases

The track took inspiration from the Prelude of Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007 for cello by Bach. After playing the track to the band in a rehearsal, Hackett remembered Collins saying, “‘It sounds like there ought to be applause at the end of it’.” Hackett wrote the piece with composers of the Tudor period in mind, including William Byrd.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm glad the band let Steve put it on the record.

I don't think there's a single song where I wish it were longer. Seriously, I don't get people that always say "so and so should be longer". By that, do you mean they should incorporate imaginary compositions that don't actually exist and tag them onto the end of it to add on a couple extra minutes? It's just the most ridiculous complaint about songs.

you no a good band, when they dont have to sing, these days they try to drown out the bands by singing over them , this normally means the band is shit!! but when your as good as genesis, you can sing if you need to as there solo play was truely breath takeing ,, genesis where truely brilliant!!!
