Gazillion’s songs, most of which were written in a depressed phase of his life, seem to exude sadness and self-loathing, but are actually intended to give hope as they all offer an element of optimism, assurance and faith. Gazillion’s style of music often relies heavily on delay effects and ethereal beats. The vocals are unique in that instead of harmonizing, Noel will often use background vocals of himself in the same notes, but in a different octave.
“The Bitter Roots of Joe” is the title for Gazillion’s demo album. The title denotes the harder times Noel went through when he started writing music. “Joe” was the name he would introduce himself as when he went to loud bars. He was tired of repeating “Noel” to people who couldn’t understand him the first time the name was said.
