Biography

Garbo is the alias of the italian singer Renato Abate, who started his career in 1981 with the album “A Berlino…Va Bene” and is still active today.

Garbo is also a portuguese band formed in 2010 (facebook.com/garbopt):
Os Garbo nasceram em 1990 mas só se reuniram pela primeira vez 20 anos depois. De uma rede de conhecimentos comuns nasceu um projecto tão imediato como indefinido, a soma de quatro pessoas com gostos diferentes mas imprevisivelmente compatíveis e cujo resultado se vai ainda desenhando aos poucos.

De início instrumental, cedo a necessidade de uma voz se mostrou, juntando-se a Margarida ao Jota, ao Nuno, ao Vasco e ao Zé para os completar com a peça que faltava. A identidade continua atrás deles ainda incerta, na certeza porém de que a melancolia do fado soa melhor com o reverb no máximo.

Garbo is also a Finnish band.

… and a danish rock trio that stopped in 2007 : Singer and bassist Tomas Høffding (see also WhoMadeWho). guitarist Rolf Hvidtfeldt & Jakob Rønlov drums.
Garbo released 3 albums. 2001 “Fields”, included radiohits “Driving Miss Mia” og “You Cry Sometimes” and Garbo played the danish festival circuit. Less success came with “Revolucination” from 2003. although ”Quiet Is The New Loud” & ”Won’t Be In Your Way” were minor hits.
Their third album tredje ”The Slow & Beautiful One”, was a critical success but not a commercial one. The album was produced by Tony Hoffer.
