Deadwood (4:22)

Cover of Singles (disc 1)

From Singles (disc 1) and 8 other releases

“I Think I’m Paranoid” was backed by B-sides “Deadwood”, purged from “Version 2.0” at the last minute, and “Afterglow”. “Deadwood” was written and recorded at Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin during the 1997 sessions for the band’s second album Version 2.0. Driven by an acoustic guitar and moody bass, “Deadwood” is a tale of a relationship gone too far to the point of no return. “Deadwood” appeared on early tracklistings for Version 2.0, however it failed to make the cut for the album and eventually saw the light of day as a b-side on the second Version 2. 0 single release. Bass guitar on “Deadwood” was played by Daniel Shulman. “Deadwood” is published by Deadarm Music/Almo Music Corp (ASCAP) and Vibecrusher Music/Irving Music, Inc (BMI). Garbage have never performed “Deadwood” live, although at many shows the song has been requested by attending fans.

One of my favourite Garbage songs [5] Wish they put this on in the place of Sleep Together. It's a beautifully layered song with so many nuances to hear, that you gotta have it on repeat just so you can find a new one. My favorite hidden treasure in the track is, "Symptomatic of what we've become/I used to think you were the only one"

Awesome song. But I see why they left it off Version 2.0 - it sounds way more like the first album.

Im gutted in a way it didn't make the cut for Version 2.0 but I can't imaging where it would fit its pretty flawless. Incredible song and a testiment to the band whose b-sides are often just as good as the rest of their catalogue. I just wish they had done it live Im sure that woulda been killer

I absolutely love it! One of the best their song and of course the best b-sid. What a pity that it wasn't include on Version 2.0. I read that band removed Deadwood in last moment off tracklist:(
