Gamma Like Very Ultra are reckless with elemental materials. Shoelaces. Fingers. Lentils. Sacred things. And the profane stuff, too. They hope to discover the most imperfect chord. GLVU stay up past their bedtimes whenever musical experiments love company. Results vary from haunted jazz to exuberant silliness. Gamma Like Very Ultra fight irony using sincerity alone. They have a hell of a bedside manner.

The first incarnation of GLVU was founded in 2006 by bassist Joseph De La Rosa, and key-boardist/trumpeteer Christine Heinisch as a far-out tape collage project. As the enterprise developed, guitarist Ariella Lake and then drummer Roger Reed also succumbed to its will.

Gamma Like Very Ultra are more likely to expand genres than to hop back and forth among them. That said, ghostly visitations from Frank Zappa, CAN, Captain Beefheart, and earlySonic Youth have been influential to their work.

Gamma Like Very Ultra have recently recorded a full-length avant-rock album: Gamma Like Very Ultra, to be released February 12, 2011 on FaceTrain Records.

Christine and Joseph also released an early EP, Silhouettes in Velvet, in 2008.

I like how we have a "super similarity" or whatever with the Science Group. That's quite an honor.
