  • This profile is fine if its used the right way (like [user]mosesxan[/user] called below) but one can be a little more specific. For that reason there are the additional [artist]Javanese Gamelan[/artist] & [artist]Balinese Gamelan[/artist] profiles, which are less generic. For all these profiles i have put into use a new tag which i called [tag]generic profiles[/tag]. It is just so bad and so frequent when [tag]Gamelan[/tag] recordings don't carry the name of the performers... lets try to minimize the damage.
  • Sure, it's not a good solution for tagging/labeling the artist, but if there's no artist listed, I feel it's still better than "various artists." It at least lets lovers of gamelan music find each other on last.fm. I have probably a dozen gamelan music albums and maybe 1 or 2 of them have an artist listed on them.
  • This is a good example of a bad Artist label, since it refers to a type of ensemble rather to any individual group. Unfortunately, often the artist names are missing from the information on the recordings. Everybody please do what you can to fill in the missing Artist names on your scrobbles. :)
  • Well I'd like to see a metal band uses Gamelan :D
  • Kaleran is gamelan degung, from Sunda (West Java). Tabuh Jiwa Merta is Balinese, but I don't recognize the exact type of gamelan.
