Biography

Japan (2001 – present)

Galneryus is a Japanese Power Metal band formed in early 2001 by guitarist Syu and vocalist YAMA-B. They play material inspired by metal legends Dream Theater, Stratovarius, and X Japan.

The current members are Masatoshi “Sho” Ono (vocals), Syu (guitar), Taka who replaced Yu-To in 2009 (bass), YUHKI (keyboard) and JUNICHI (drums.) Veterans of the heavy metal scene, they set to work assembling a band. Syu, known as guitarist for the indie heavy metal bands ValkyR, Animetal and SPINALCORD, where he also served as lead vocalist, and vocalist YAMA-B, who worked with bands Gunbridge and Rekion, originally were joined by keyboardist A (of Valkyr) and drummer Toshihiro Yui (Formerly of Honey Quest and Cemetary.) They soon were to recruit keyboardist Yuhki, of Ark Storm, and drummer Junichi Satoh. After Tsui left in 2006, they recruited yu-to of DELUHI. They were signed to VAP Records. Syu writes music for the band and contributed his deep, roaring vocals, while lead vocalist Yama-B contributes the songwriting, with lyrics and song titles in English. Galneryus has a dress style that borders on the style of visual kei, with medievally styled and leather dress, toting instruments with coloration to match, although recently they have set for a more casual style.

Just kidding sorta about that last comment sorta but x japan's silent jealousy is an ok song the singing sorta ruins it for me. I used to listen to a lot of x Japan but I think the novelty wears off and toshis voice is something I can't get over. Same goes for yoshikis ego.

Can't respect a band that plays the same setlist since 1997

-tienxcore- "Someone compared endless story to silent jealousy? In what way is that even alike? The solo might be a tad bit similar. Endless story is worlds better than silent jealousy in pretty much every way." @ troll detector activated! I do love Endless Story but its such a stretch to call it *worlds* better than Silent Jealousy…lol comeon have some respek.

There's No Escape sounds a bit trancey at the intro. I like it. Great album, title instrumental goes hard.

The anime is Donten ni Warau (Laughing under the Clouds). Recall that Kizuna was released in January after Phoenix Rising was out in October. Also, finally a proper release for "Cant Live Without You". I don't see why they didn't include that in Vetelgyus, maybe the album would have become too long then?

Perhaps they do that because ATTITUDE TO LIFE is the ending of an anime.

Lol à single after the album? I am wondering if they are going to extend the solo sections in this single version. Would be awesome :)

They will release ATTITUDE TO LIFE as a single with two bonus tracks. First one is called MY FAITH by Yuhki and the second bonus track is the Vetelgyus mix of CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU. December 3rd is release date.

Best song is Enemy to Injustice; just wish the album was more like it.

Finally received my copy. It's a good album; not their best but not their worst. ULTIMATUM, ENNEMY TO INJUSTICE, THE JUDGeMENT DAY, VETELGYUS, ATTITUDE TO LIFE, I WISH and THE VOYAGE (even if it's just a copy of SPIRIT OF STEEL's melody) are my favorite songs after 3 listennings.

I almost can't believe how good Vetelgyus is, not a bad song on the album. Not sure if it surpasses Beyond the End of Despair yet, but it's certainly giving it a run for my top Galneryus album.

Google translate didn't really help me understand the comparison, but maybe the intro is kinda similar. That and the track placement. Someone else here said "The Guide" is a Yngwie rip-off. Both bands have inspired Syu and there are so many songs coming out that some melodies might be similar-sounding, but I don't get all these comparisons unless they're blatant.

Some reviewers compared "Endless Story" to X Japan's "Silent Jealousy". But I agree with Vyse, "Enemy to Injustice" has like 4-5 different parts and is does not have the predictable verse - chorus - solo pattern. That's why it is so nice to listen to, it never gets boring upon continuous listening. Usually Sho ballads are top-material, however that's probably not the case with "Attitude to Life" sadly. It's still a good song though, the solo and ending redeem it.

Yea though some people are having bad reaction at the moment, I expect in a year or two the consensus will be Vetelgyus = best album since Beyond the End of Despair. Its true I used to be a Yama-B fanboy but I like the new material in a different light.

Best SHO album in my honest opinion, and i've been a fan for a long time. The Guide is the best song on here, and the title track is a stupid good instrumental. Only songs I don't really like are the two ballads. Attitude To Life isn't too bad, though. I just love that there's a lot of energy this time around. More upbeat stuff and cooler melodies than anything I've heard from the bands since Sho joined.

HAHAHHAHAH,sounds like the whole thing is going nicely here, some neurotic yama-aholic has turn to the band lol.Anyway, since when I have quited my fanboy job,I hate people who show signs of extreme fanboyism himself, this is how they remind me of what I really used to be.sucks.
