I think by the time This is Our Music was released they were emotionally juiced. Dean especially has mentioned in interviews how draining the experience of pouring his emotions into G5's music was too much for him. Listening to On Fire I can see how that would've emotionally bankrupted them...On Fire being the kind of intimately-painful-feelings-wrought masterpiece that comes along once in a blue blue moon.
