The country of the sauna and the midnight sun is now delivering music to the rest of the world. Five Finnish rock sleaze-bags together form Gakko3, which is the Swedish speaking city Vasas contribution to the Finnish music export. In 2004 Gakko3 signed with the Swedish record label Dust Music. Now the result from this cultural interaction is released.
Is it a Swedish tiger or a Finnish lion? Gakko 3 from Vasa in Finland is something in-between, like a shark in the dark, says Sami the guitar player. Gakko 3 is hoping that their sauna-based pop will be internationally recognized.
When Joakim got back from St.Petersburg in Russia, he formed the group These Druids are Chosen, which soon split. He wrote 40 songs, and after a chaotic period he and the remains of the druids got their act together. Gakko 3 was formed, and the first live gig was in February 2002.
The debut album “Signals” sounds like a Finnish Duran Duran having a party together with the Sex Pistols or vice versa. The first single “Club idiot Saturday drive” has received extensive airplay in Finnish radio and TV. The video has spent six week on the Finnish TV: s Nordic music video chart for six weeks.
Gakko3 now goes worldwide with a fresh album in the bag. The album is produced by Niklas Hellberg who previously wrote songs and has produced Thåström, Peace Love and Pitbulls.
