About the Name…

Gáirín is right out of the Nevada-Gaelic Dictionary! It comes from the song of the desert quail, which sounds a little bit like laughter and a lot like a chuckle!

About the Musicians…

We’re two singers who blend our voices as we do our hearts. Our original arrangements and harmonies extend folk music traditions but maintain the charm and musical flavor of traditional music. And we have never tried to sound like anybody else, so we don’t always fit any particular niche.

The husband and wife duo of Tom and Mary Kay Aufrance, BMI - folk musicians and singer-songwriters who enjoy making music for audiences close to their home in Carson City, NV. Find them on festival stages as well as in intimate settings, making music for wine tasting or coffee shop audiences.

Tom and Mary Kay started recording in 2005, and have released 4 CDs and a new music book, including 23 easy-to-play arrangements of songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England and Amerikay, including original music that local music teachers and friends requested copies of for their own playing enjoyment. You can also enjoy playing along with the music book and CD set.

You can hear all our CDs and look inside the music book (and get them for your own) starting at http://aufrance.com/music/
