GROMS (“God Rules Over My Soul”) was a Norwegian Christian groovy death metal band that formed in Kristiansand in 1992. In 1993 they toured in Poland and on December 21st, 1994, their one and only album “Ascension” was released on the Arctic Serenades label as their first release. There were reports of a second album “I Beseech Thee” but nothing more came out of it. As guitarist Hans Dalen left the band they split up. Torodd Fuglesteg, the man behind Arctic Serenades, is a very anti-religious person and the relationship between label and band resulted in severed ties. Their album was re-released by Pleitegeier Records in 1996.

I've really learned over the years to just set the stupid secular/religious labels aside in order to be able to say that hey... this band is really amazing and or they suck. THIS band... regardless of beliefs... this is one of the heaviest albums I can think of!!! The production is sweet!!!! The bass drum sound they used for this album is room shaking, which is usually not the case... so many mixing engineers trade a good boomy bass drum sound for a stale characterless trebly tinny sound. The bass guitar is so fuck'n thick. To bad that these broke up, but being a Christian band in Norway during that time was not a very safe occupation, nor was it very profitable. Its understandable.

@Chuzbogh You're an idiot. This is some great death/doom, the vocals remind me a lot of Pantokrator!
