Biography
Tampa, Florida, USA (2005 – present)
Futures Passed is from Tampa, Florida, USA and was originally conceptualized in 2005. The first recordings under this name took place in 2006.
Futures Passed is the name of both the band and solo projects from the band’s founder, Stephen Brand. In 2005, Steve picked up a guitar for the first time, and eventually started writing short instrumental tunes and lyrics without music, with the intent to eventually play alternative rock. He occasionally played with some people that were essentially session musicians, the most successful of them was Adam Watson and Austin Elliot. None of these sessions were recorded, except for Steve’s solo Something Sound Sessions, which had two songs in the experimental stage, and one track that was two notes played different ways.
In 2008, Steve discovered a moderately underground phenomenon known as YouTube Poop. This would eventually lead him to make music videos in this style, also known as ytpmvs. Since 2009, he has released these in yearly collections.
In January of 2010, Steve started his own label, Futures Passed Free Music, and he often collaborates with musicians from it as well as some from the Breakbit label.
Both the band and the label’s official site is http://futurespassed.com.
