Biography

(1978 – present)

Fushitsusha (不失者) is the trio of Keiji Haino (灰野敬二) on guitar and voice, Chiyo Kamekawa from Yura Yura Teikoku (ゆらゆら帝国) on bass, and Ryosuke Kiyasu (Sete Star Sept) on drums.

Haino formed Fushitsusha in 1978, although their first LP was not released until 1989. The band initially consisted of Haino on guitar and vocals, and Tamio Shiraishi on synthesizer. Fushitsusha became a trio with the departure of Shiraishi and the addition of Jun Hamano (bass) and Shuhei Takashima (drums). The lineup soon changed, adding Yasushi Ozawa (bass) and Jun Kosugi (drums) throughout the 1990s. Their 1993 album Allegorical Misunderstanding was released on John Zorn’s record label, Avant, although most of their albums have come out on independent label P.S.F. and on major label Tokuma.

Fushitsusha then returned to duo status, with Haino supplementing percussion with tape loops, though the band was on a hiatus since 2001.

Eleven years after their last album (Origin’s Hesitation, from 2001), Fushitsusha released another album on Heartfast, called ” 光となづけよう ” with a lineup consisted of Keiji Haino on guitars and vocals, Mitsuru Nasuno (from Altered States, Korekyojinn, Sanhedolin) on bass guitar and Ikuro Takahashi (of Kousokuya, LSD March) on drums.

Fushitsusha soon anounced their European tour with the lineup of Chiyo Kamekawa on bass and Ryosuke Kiyasu on drums.

To be in the band bangs aren't required, but they're certainly encouraged.

I think Hikari is excellent, but Mabushii is definitely better. In any case, I think they're supposed to be companion albums in a way, though this is merely conjecture.

Well, I don't think Hikari to Nazukeyo is very good, but Mabushii Itazura Na Inori on the other hand is well worth checking out.

How are the new albums? I've been a bit worried about a Fushitsusha line-up without Ozawa (who is very much missed) and haven't really dared to give them a chance, but seeing some of the new line-up videos on youtube I feel like my interest in rock music has just been reborn.

well looks like the album lineup differs from the live or the actual lineup. event the event organisers seemed to have overlooked that one. Chiyo Kamekawa on bass and Ryosuke Kiyasu on drums. also, pics of current lineup now uploaded

I was a bit sceptic about this new Fushitsusha incarnation, but the gig I saw last week was one the very best I've ever seen of Haino. Rather than just being insanely loud with Haino drowning out everyone else on stage like he usually does, he was a true conductor of his band. Two hours and it didn't bore me for a minute. Their set had had lots of nuances and a subdued quality througout.

V should probably mention that the bassist of Korekyojinn is also the bassist for Fushitsusha!

First track from the newest album somehow reminds me of Elaine's dance in Seinfeld. Loving the album so far, on the whole.

new album is rock and roll [2] Fucking ace stuff. It's great that he's still performing with such ferocity and energy at the age of 60. No sign of him slowing down for the foreseeable future, on the basis of this release :)

Two tracks into Live 2 and I'm actually kind of enjoying this. Not sure how I feel about that.
