Biography

Their lead vocalist, Jennifer Turner, was playing the Tigerlily tour with Natalie Merchant as a guitarist, when they formed Furslide together with Jason Lader and Adam MacDougall in early 1997. Furslide was the first band on Nellee Hooper’s new label Meanwhile… (Record Label) when they were signed in 1998. They released their debut album titled Adventure in fall 1998 and played a couple of shows subsequently in the US, the UK and all across Europe (for example opening for Lenny Kravitz on October 8th, 1998 in Detroit, they also where support act for Kula Shaker, Alanis Morissette and Ben Folds Five). In 1999 they dissolved, supposedly because of disappointing record sales.

The music of Furslide is diverse and multifaceted. Turner names Joni Mitchell, Chrissie Hynde and Natalie Merchant as influences.

The band consisted of the following members:

Jennifer Turner, guitars and vocals
Jason Lader, bass guitar
Adam MacDougall, drums

I think she joined them in 2009, for their second album, 'Pigeons'. Before that she was with Joseph Arthur & The Lonely Astronauts for three years.

kindof disappointed to hear that because here we go magic isn't all that great, or has she only recently joined them?

Not half bad. I like Jen's song writing. She's with Here We Go Magic now.

I don't know how I came across the Adventure CD, but I've always liked it a lot. May have actually been a bargain bin item.

i bought this album because there was an offer of 5 cds for 20.00 at harrods and i couldn't find anything else interesting enough and was in love with the packaging for it. so yeah, packaging is the only reason i own this album, but it's not why i love listening to it.

I would like to know where Jennifer's gone... and what she's doing at the moment...

I agree. They were a great band! I remember the day I bought 'Adventure'. I'm so proud of it!

I loved this band. After 7 years I still listen to the album all the time. Such a shame.
