Funkadelic was originally the backing band for the doo wop group, Parliament. The band was added in 1964, primarily for tours, and consisted of Frankie Boyce, Richard Boyce and Langston Booth. They enlisted in the army in 1966, and George Clinton (the leader of Parliament) recruited Billy Bass Nelson and Eddie Hazel in 1967, then also adding Tawl Ross and Tiki Fulwood.

  • @Kjrne: The live version from One Nation Under Groove (which is a masterpiece in it's own right) bonus ep is amazing if you haven't heard it. I think I prefer it over the studio version. Hazels guitar playing is heart melting.
  • Kjrne: they sure do. I like the first six albums most, they have some incredible songs on them. I think their debut album is a complete masterpiece, every single song on it is just so good. Then my favourites from the other five albums are "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts", "March to the Witch’s Castle", "America Eats Its Young" and "Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow" and obviously "Maggot Brain".
